LAC Conveyors & Automation, part of LAC Group, have joined The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) to demonstrate their commitment to the logistics and transport sector. CILT is the UK’s membership organisation for professionals leading logistics, transport and supply chain operations for the movement of goods and people.
Nottingham-based LAC are material handling and automation experts who have successfully delivered projects to major players in the logistics arena including Hermes, Amazon, DHL and DPD. Having been providing innovative conveyor and automation solutions for more than two decades, LAC have gained a breadth of experience unmatched in the industry. By constantly reviewing and updating equipment, it allows them to provide the very best solutions for material handling and automation requirements which are built for the application and not constrained by equipment range limitations.
In early 2020, LAC installed a return automation conveyor system at Hermes national distribution hub, which saw the logistics company increase their capacity by 50%. Steve Stanbridge, Engineering Manager at Hermes said, “No one else in the industry is using a system like this to sort their parcels at such an increased throughput and reduced expense.” Similarly, in 2018 LAC installed a full turnkey cross belt sorter system for Skynet Worldwide Express, which was designed to sort 4,000 parcels per hour in a limited amount of warehouse space. “The sorter, associated conveyors and scanning equipment have helped improve our workflow immensely” said Lee Smith, London Operations Manager for Skynet Worldwide Express. With LAC’s vision set to see continued growth as specialists in the logistics arena, joining the association will be beneficial to further build strong relationships in this important sector.
