The design incorporated two ramps that allowed for hand pallet trucks to be able to feed/take off pallets into the system with a further three conveyors designed to feed/take off pallets via forklift trucks. Both types of receipt and despatch conveyors then feed onto the modular belt conveyors. Incorporating picking robots alongside pallet handling lines further enhances material flow, particularly in high-throughput environments. These robots work in sync with conveyors and robotic palletisers, automating order fulfilment and pallet movement across multiple production areas. The integration of autonomous pallet handling units ensures pallets are efficiently transported between processing zones, packaging lines, and pallet storage areas with minimal human intervention. Together, these technologies create a fully connected automation ecosystem that boosts accuracy, consistency, and overall productivity.
ENHANCED BY ROBOT PALLETISING TECHNOLOGY
To augment our comprehensive conveyor solutions, we have integrated robot palletising technology that aligns with our vision for advanced automation. These robots complement the manual and forklift feeding process by streamlining the pallet stacking and unstacking phases. With precise movements and the ability to handle heavy loads, the robot palletisers reduce the need for manual handling, enhancing safety and efficiency. Their incorporation into the system ensures that high-volume palletising tasks are performed with uniformity and speed, leading to a significant uptick in overall productivity. The design allowed for tight/close transfer points between conveyors to help mitigate any transfer problems that might arise. This was done by using a 10mm gap between the conveyors and a 1” pitch modular belt.
The system was installed over two floors. Pallets were moved between floors via a lift in which L-A-C Logistics Automation installed a modular belt conveyor to move the pallets between levels. This ensured minimal handling at transfer points and ensured maximum productivity. All the modular belt conveyors have been designed to move in both directions which allows for pallets of product to be delivered and waste to be returned.
To further enhance efficiency and productivity, we have incorporated pallet handling automation solutions. Our automated pallet handling systems utilise pallet shuttles and stacker cranes to optimise retrieval processes, improving throughput and reducing manual intervention. This results in a highly effective storage solution that maximises storage capacity while ensuring maximum safety.
Our automated storage systems are designed to accommodate various pallet types, offering seamless integration into warehouse management software and a Warehouse Management System (WMS). These systems provide real-time inventory management, ensuring precise tracking and organisation of pallet spaces.
To complement our Automated Pallet Handling Solutions, L-A-C integrates high-density pallet storage systems that maximise vertical space and streamline inventory rotation. Whether deploying static racks or dynamic shuttle systems, our automation ensures pallets are stored, retrieved, and delivered with speed and precision. By linking autonomous pallet handling vehicles to the central Warehouse Management System, the process becomes fully synchronised — from production output to despatch — offering enhanced visibility and end-to-end operational control. These systems are designed to evolve with demand, giving clients flexibility and measurable return on investment through continuous efficiency gains.
