A global wine producer approached L-A-C to design a solution which would not only increase efficiency, but raise safety standards by eliminating the requirement for manual handling.
L-A-C designed and developed an automated pallet de-stacker solution which de-stacks pallets at the rate of 80 pallets per hour but also has the functionality for the settings to be customised, allowing for products of varying height with minimal manual intervention needed.
The Brief
The global company, who produces some of the world’s best-known brands of new world wine, found that their processes were not only time consuming, but held risk of significant injury from the associated hazards of manual handling and lifting operations. The company wanted to raise their safety standards by eliminating the requirement for potentially dangerous manual handling tasks.
The Challenge
When designing the pallet de-stacker, L-A-C’s design team had to consider how the new system would be integrated into their clients existing conveyors, as well as how they would configure the customisable variations allowing different sized products.
The Solution
L-A-C’s solution was three automated pallet de-stacker’s complete with infeed conveyors, which could receive, lift and de-stack stretch wrapped pallets of varying sized product, presented in two at a time. To integrate with existing conveyors, Infeed conveyors were supplied to deliver the pallets to the de-stackers. This solution saw the client increase their operation efficiency and significantly improve their safety standards by having the functionality to remove physical manual handling. This solution eliminated the requirement for a forklift truck and driver so labour costs were also reduced. The client is able to use the de-stacker for varying products by adjusting the pre-configured settings themselves and enter their own settings to suit different sized products.
